Where to Travel in 2016

With a new year comes new beginnings, and what better way to experience a fresh start, or even a fresh outlook on life then to travel the world! But first you have to know where to travel in 2016, as there are so many amazing destinations out there.

Here is They Get Around’s list of where to travel in 2016

Pin it:

Philippines

When everybody thinks of a nice Asian beach getaway chances are they’re going to be thinking of Thailand or Bali? But there is a country which has picturesque beaches which rival that of those more synonymous with the area, and that is the Philippines.

It’s a less touristy spot with prices being similar to that of Thailand.  So with that in mind you can use those extra savings to buy yourself another cocktail and lounge on the beach till sunset.

Belize

Beaches – there is simply something relaxing about them. The idea of escaping from your 9 to 5 job and becoming the real you, the adventurous self who tries new things. In Belize there is plenty to try whether that’s food (the BBQ Chicken is amazing there!), snorkeling, scuba diving or simply lounging out on the beach an soaking in the Belizean lifestyle. Belize is also home to some of the best sunsets I have ever witnessed available, but only if you’re adventurous enough to come in the first place.

Zambia

One of the fastest growing tourism regions in Africa. Zambia offers you the opportunity to indulge all your African holiday dreams. You can go on safari and see an elephant or lion, visit one of the biggest waterfalls in the world in Victoria Falls, or simply embrace yourself in some African cuisine and culture.

A holiday to Zambia promises to be one you’ll remember.

Croatia

Did you know that the city of Dubrovnik is being used as King’s Landing in Game of Thrones? With the new series popping up next year, basically everybody will be speaking about, or viewing this wonderful city without actually knowing. Come and explore what Dubrovnik, Croatia has on offer. It’s not just the home of Joffery.

Bolivia

Bolivia is home to one of the biggest salt lakes in the world. The photos which have popped up from this place over the years are quite funny. You can let your creative side run a little wild here and have some fun. Plus being one of the cheaper countries in South America doesn’t hurt either where you can purchase an entire meal, a drink, and still have change from a few dollars.

Fiji

Lying on the beach on a Pacific Island drinking from a coconut, eating an array of exotic fruits and sharing it all with someone new you only met on the island days before sounds like the story from a cheesy B-Grade movie. But this could all be true, in Fiji. Can you hear the soft island guitars setting the romantic mood during sunset? Cause I can.

Taiwan

Taiwan may be a small country, but that simply means that it’s easier to see all of its untapped beauty. Once described as the most beautiful country in the world, with a quick Google image search of Taiwan’s landscapes it becomes very easy to see why. Taiwan is a landscape photographers dream.

Colombia

Stunning beaches with crystal clear blue water, loving people who have a flair for life, a football mad country, and best of all, it’s cheap! Colombia is an amazing country which feels western in parts like Bogota, but at the same time it has its own unique South American personality that will leave you spell bounded and wanting more. Places to visit include Cali, Bogota and Cartagena.

India

The land of extremes. It’s very easy to see what there is to like about India, the vibrant colours, a colourful history, spirituality, mouth watering foods, all wrapped up in a nice Bollywood ribbon/song. When it comes time to board your plane home you may just never want to leave.

Iceland

With a name like Iceland you’d expect a frosty welcome to this Scandinavian country, but the friendly hospitality, hot springs and volcanoes will certainly fill you with warmth. Iceland is an amazing country which is famous for its geothermal activity and landscapes, so bring a tripod and get ready to spend a few hours being captivated by this amazing country.

Brazil

Brazil was the centre of attention in 2014 for the FIFA World Cup, and next year it will be once again with the Olympics. All eyes will be cast to Brazil as everybody will be wanting another dance with this samba mad country. So get your dancing shoes on and get ready to mingle as this notorious party country ramps up their preparations for the 2016 Summer Olympics, it plans to be a big one.

Morocco

The spices and flair of the Middle East coupled with a sprinkling of flavour from Northern Africa, if you’re a food lover this is a must! Morocco combines all the thrills that you want from a destination – food, travel, shopping in local bazaars, mystery, and stunning photo opportunities. You’ll leave feeling as though Morocco is the spice for life.

Australia

The land down under is a fascinating place to visit, the people are warm and inviting, there are plenty of sights to see, and now for the first time in a long time it is affordable. With the strength of the Australian dollar falling slightly over the last year, now could be the perfect time to cuddle a koala, ride a kangaroo, and try your best Crocodile Dundee impersonation in Australia.

Nicaragua

Central America is an area which seems to be forgotten on most people’s travel lists, but head there once and then you’ll realize that you should have visited a lot sooner. You may end up wanting to plan future trips simply to check out the rest of this fascinating area.

Costa Rica is definitely the touristy part of the region, but one country in particular seems to have flown under the radar, and that is Nicaragua. Not only is it cheaper, but the country has a very chilled, laidback lifestyle, especially on the island of Ometepe. Nicaragua may just surprise you.

China

So why not come and check it out and see what all the cool kids are up to these days. As they said in that episode of the Simpson’s, “China still cool!”

New Zealand

While the buzz surrounding the Lord of The Rings may have subsided, the amazing scenery which was on display during that movie series is still patiently waiting for you to come and explore it. The Land of The Long White Cloud is a country synonymous for its picturesque landscapes and culinary delights of fish and chips. So pop by and visit Australia’s little brother, though don’t tell them that!

Complete List:

Philippines, Belize, Zambia, Croatia, Bolivia, Fiji, Taiwan, Colombia, India, Iceland, Brazil, Morocco, Australia, Nicaragua, China, New Zealand

  • As scenic as Croatia is, I would say the rest of the Balkan countries should get priority! Bosnia, Montenegro, Serbia, etc are all just as beautiful and completely untouched still, whereas Croatia gets a bit touristy!

    Nov 20, 2015 at 8:10 pm
  • Yeah! China and the Philippines are planned here too 😀 But there are a lot more countries in this list I am really curious for 🙂
